Presbyterian Women in the Synod of the Northeast -- Scholarships

We are Presbyterian Women in the congregations in the Northeast —
New England, New York and New Jersey.

OUR PURPOSE

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study
To support the mission of the church worldwide
To work for justice and peace, and
To build an inclusive, caring community of women
that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FROM PWSNE

A quote from 1 Peter 5:2 reads “…not greedy for money, but eager to serve…” sums up how the Presbyterian Women of the Synod of the Northeast Coordinating Team feel when scholarships are awarded for various events. We are proud to have the ability to help our ladies attend worthwhile events through the Scholarship Program.

We have three specific categories:

Synod Events

July Gatherings in Albany/Stony Point;

the Bible Study Event at Stony Point;

Spiritual Retreat Event in Syracuse;

and the Healing Retreat.

Leadership Development – available for those wishing to attend conference and workshops to enhance their leadership role.

Churchwide Gathering – the international event held every three years in Louisville.

One scholarship application is available for all three categories – you need to specify what event you wish to attend. Be sure the application is completely filled out and signed by the Moderator of your church PW or the Moderator of the Presbytery PW. Please ask the Moderator to include a paragraph why you should be considered for the scholarship.

We do ask you send a brief report to the Finance Moderator after attending the event – this will be shared at a PWSNE Meeting.

One word of caution – please be sure you know the deadline for registration of the event you wish to attend. The application must be submitted to the Finance Moderator 45 days prior to the event.
